Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has made up 14 lawyers to its counsel ranks in an international-focused round including no London promotions.

The magic circle firm's German offices have received the bulk of the promotions, with seven spread across Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Duesseldorf.

The remaning seven are shared between the firm's bases in Beijing, Brussels, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Vienna.

Corporate saw the highest number of promotions, with five, followed by three each in dispute resolution and finance, two in competition and one in corporate and finance.

The number of promotions is broadly in line with the firm's last two counsel rounds, which saw 13 made up last October and 17 this April. The promotions are effective from 1 November.

Freshfields managing partner Ted Burke (pictured) commented: 'Our new counsels come from a broad range of practices and offices. Each of them combines strong technical skills, client focus and commercial insight and I congratulate them on reaching this milestone.'

In April, only one of the 17 promotions was in London, with the remainder spread across the magic circle firm's Hong Kong, Vietnam, Paris, Cologne, Madrid, Munich, Frankfurt, Duesseldorf, Moscow and Washington DC offices.
