Addleshaw Goddard senior partner Monica Burch has been re-elected for a new term at the helm of the firm after litigation head Simon Kamstra decided to withdraw his candidacy.

Kamstra had put himself forward to contest the role ahead of the conclusion of Burch's first three-year term next year; however, he has now decided to concentrate on leading the firm's litigation division, meaning Burch has been automatically relected.

Burch, who was first elected to the senior partner role in 2010, will now take up a new three-year term from 1 May next year.

Kamstra, who has also held the role of head of international arbitration since 2007, replaced the outgoing Richard Leedham as Addleshaws' litigation head in June 2012 after Leedham stepped down to focus on client work.

Burch (pictured) said of her reappointment: "I am delighted to continue to serve as senior partner of Addleshaw Goddard for a further three years. I am proud of our achievements over the past three years. We have great clients and great lawyers and I look forward to contributing to our continued progress as a business."

Burch succeeded Paul Lee as senior partner in 2010 after seeing off challenges from former litigation head Simon Twigden and Malcolm Pike, the managing partner of the firm's contentious and commercial division, in what was thought to be a closely contested election.

Burch, who also holds a non-executive role at Channel 4, joined legacy firm Theodore Goddard as a trainee in 1988 and made partner in 1999.
