Ropes & Gray has made up two of its London lawyers to partner as part of a nine-strong promotion round.
The US firm's New York office received the bulk of the promotions, gaining three new partners, with the firm also making up two in Boston and one apiece in San Francisco and Washington DC.
While none of the new partners are currently located in any of the firm's Asian offices, Washington-based government enforcement specialist Kim Nemirow will move to Hong Kong at the start of 2013 where she will work as a foreign-registered lawyer.
The promotions are spread across the finance, health care, bankruptcy and business restructuring, government enforcement, hedge funds, intellectual property (IP) litigation and business securities practices.
In London, Michael Kazakevich (pictured) has been promoted to partner in the finance practice, with Daniel Martin made up in the bankruptcy and business restructuring team.
In addition to the partner promotions Ropes has also promoted four new counsel, three of which are based in New York, with one in Washington DC.
Ropes chairman Brad Malt commented: "We are extremely pleased to welcome such an accomplished and talented group of attorneys as partners and counsel.
"Their experience and dedication to providing best-in-class service will continue to benefit our clients."
Ropes launched in the City in January 2010, with high-profile finance partners Maurice Allen and Mike Goetz at the helm. The pair had most recently been at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Last year Ropes made up 13 new partners, alongside one counsel, with no-one in London making the grade. London gained its first promotion in November 2010 when counsel Tania Bedi was made up in the banking practice.
In addition to its offices across the US and in London, Ropes has offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul.
