Stephenson Harwood has signed an exclusive deal with BPP Law School to provide the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) for its London trainees, in an agreement which marks the firm's first exclusive deal with an LPC and GDL provider.
The firm's tailored LPC course will also include an exclusive module focusing on international trade and transactions, which will come into effect for its trainees on the LPC from March 2013.
The newly created elective will cover: conflicts of law; commercial contracts; the international sale and transportation of goods; financial aspects of international trade and transactions; shipping law; aviation; energy law; and international arbitration.
The module was created by BPP head of LPC curriculum development and design, Damien Smith, in consultation with the firm.
Stephenson Harwood training principal partner and finance partner Neil Noble commented: "Stephenson Harwood is focused on providing its trainees with innovative training and this unique introduction to aspects of international trade law, together with a range of topics which will impact upon international commercial transactions, will further enhance their learning and understanding of this key area, and be of direct relevance and application to their training contracts."
Dean of BPP Law School Peter Crisp added: "This is an exciting new module that we have designed with Stephenson Harwood. This is a brand new international elective for BPP and takes our offering up to 16 electives which is the most offered by any law school in the UK.
Other firms to have signed up to exclusive deals with BPP include Simmons & Simmons, Withers, RPC, Addleshaw Goddard and Olswang.
Earlier this year BPP's main rival, the College of Law, teamed up with CMS Cameron McKenna to develop a new internationally focused LPC.
