SNR Denton has secured a new association in Kuwait via an agreement with local lawyer Jamal Ahmed Al-Shehab, who is returning to private practice after his recent retirement as minister of justice for the Kuwaiti Government.

The association, which ends SNR Denton's existing tie-up with local firm International Legal Group (ILG), will be known as The Law Office of Al-Shehab & partners in association with SNR Denton.

As well as the tie-up with Al-Shehab & partners, SNR Denton counts associate offices in Amman and Riyadh, as well as associate firms in Beirut and Muscat.

The association will see the firms advise on a range of matters, including energy, infrastructure and project finance, corporate and commercial transactions, litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution.

"I am looking forward to a return to practice and to working closely with SNR Denton in providing an enhanced service to existing and future clients in Kuwait and the wider region," said Al-Shehab, who will work with an SNR Denton team led by energy, infrastructure and project finance partner Stuart Cavet.

ILG senior partner Ahmed Al Samdan, who had been in association with SNR Denton since it launched in Kuwait City in 2008 said: "We at ILG are looking forward to the many new opportunities to work on major projects and transactions, as Kuwait embarks on ambitious plans for growth."

SNR Denton, which is set to rebrand under the Dentons banner in the coming months following its merger with Salans and Canada's Fraser Milner Casgrain, has more than 100 lawyers and legal staff across the Middle East in offices in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, Manama and Muscat.
