CC has offered 55 of its 66 trainees a role at the firm. Of those, 54 accepted a position to become newly qualified (NQ) lawyers, resulting in a retention rate of 82%.

The results are up on the same point last year, when the magic circle firm retained 76% of its intake after keeping on 39 qualifying trainee solicitors out of 51. It is also up on its September 2012 results, when it held on to 48 of its 62 trainees.

Magic circle peer Linklaters has seen retention results drop slightly after it revealed that it kept on 83% of its trainees. The firm offered 52 of its 59 trainees a job at the firm, with 49 acceptances.

The result is slightly down on the same point last year, when the firm kept on 86% of its 57-strong intake, but up on its autumn intake last year, when the firm awarded jobs to 78% of its NQs.

The news marks the last of the magic circle to announce retention rates, after Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer revealed an 85% retention rate, Allen & Overy reported a result of 70%. Slaughter & May meanwhile posted a 86% rate.

Separately, Trowers & Hamlins posted a 100% retention rate for its spring intake after it held onto all 13 of its NQs, who will work across Trowers' UK and Middle East operations, with seven in London, two in Manchester, two in Dubai and one each in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

Elsewhere Norton Rose has kept on 76% of its March NQs after it made offers to 13 of its 17 qualifying trainees, broadly static on its March 2012 intake when 78% of trainees were kept on.
