Clifford Chance (CC) has elected two new members to its partnership council, with Washington DC banking and finance partner Catherine McCarthy and Beijing M&A corporate partner Tim Wang joining the group.
The pair will succeed Asia disputes partner Martin Rogers and Frankfurt corporate partner Daniela Weber-Rey and will serve a three-year term kicking off on 19 March 2013.
Financial institutions corporate head Katherine Coates and commercial litigation partner Simon Davis, who have both been re-elected to the council, will begin their three-year terms at the same time.
Senior partner Malcolm Sweeting (pictured) chairs the council, which comprises two other elected partners: Dubai banking and project finance partner Robin Abraham and Italy head of banking and project finance Giuseppe de Palma. Both of their terms run until March 2015.
The Council oversees the management committee's performance as well as maintaining the firm's reputation and to organising votes and elections as required under the partnership agreement.
CC elected Abraham and de Palma last year, succeeding New York banking partner Thomas Schulte and Amsterdam corporate partner Jeroen Koster.
The news comes as this month CC appointed M&A corporate partner Jaime Velazquez as its new Spain managing partner.
Velazquez joined CC as a partner in 2005 from Allen & Overy, where he was a senior associate, to head up the Spanish corporate and finance practice. He succeeds long-serving regional managing partner Ignacio Ojanguren, who has managed the firm's Spain operations for 12 years.
In addition the firm elected a new US managing partner earlier this month, appointing head of US finance and restructuring Evan Cohen to oversee the firm's bases in New York, Sao Paolo and Washington DC.
New-York based Cohen will hold the post for a four-year term, which will kick off on 1 May. Current regional managing partner Craig Medwick will return to the corporate practice on 30 April after concluding his second term.
