DAC Beachcroft has boosted its international footprint after sealing two associations with firms in Colombia and Malaysia.

The Colombia deal with De La Torre & Monroy, which is top-ranked by Chambers and Partners for insurance work in the Southeast Asian country, is an extension of the Botoga-based firm's existing relationship with legacy Davies Arnold Cooper, with which Beachcroft merged in 2011.

De La Torre has been operating for 20 years under the direction of founding partners Camila de la Torre and Gabriela Monroy, during which time it has built links with the London reinsurance market.

DAC Beachcroft now has a Latin American presence in Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Colombia, the four countries deemed to be the most important regional insurance markets, with the deal following on from November's three-way merger with Chilean firms SegurosLex and Amunategui & Cia to form DAC Beachcroft Chile.

Meanwhile, the firm has also reached agreement for a formal association with Kuala Lumpur's Gan Partnership.

Gan, which was established in 2011, is a three-partner firm focusing on dispute resolution, intellectual property and corporate.

DAC Beachcroft managing partner Paul Murray commented: "The signing of these new associations is excellent news for DAC Beachcroft, marking, as it does, another significant step toward strengthening our position as a leading international provider of legal services to clients in the insurance sector."

The firm also plans to merge with Canadian firm McCague Borlack in 2014 after last year signing a two-year association agreement.
