Former Herbert Smith senior partner Lord Gold has taken up a new role as chairman of litigation support company Proven.
Proven was launched in 2009 by former Slaughter and May senior partner Tim Clark and ex-SJ Berwin chief David Harrel.
The company provides support to litigation and dispute resolution teams dealing with complex cases including cross-border fraud, corruption and money laundering. It is part of the Good Governance Group, which includes strategic advisory consultancy G3.
Lord Gold, who currently heads David Gold & Associates, will chair a board that includes former BP general counsel and executive vice president of BP Peter Bevan, and Lord Macdonald of River Glaven QC, former director of public prosecutions, of Matrix Chambers.
Also on the board is Proven's CEO Moira Lavery, who worked at Hogan Lovells and as a regulatory partner at DLA Piper until 2003, before taking various in-house roles at Barclays Bank.
Former Slaughters senior partner Clark remains an adviser to parent company Good Governance Group, while former SJ Berwin senior partner Harrel retired from the board in 2012.
Lavery said Gold "has a pre-eminent reputation as a litigator and a mediator and will undoubtedly strengthen Proven's position as the partner of choice for major law firms engaged in complex, high value, multi-jurisdictional disputes".
Earlier this year Gold was tasked with leading a review of Rolls-Royce's compliance procedures in the wake of bribery and corruption allegations overseas.
Gold added: "Proven is a young company but it has already gained a significant reputation for its professionalism in working alongside law firms on complex cross-border cases. Proven's approach to global investigations is focused on resolving disputes – that is what attracted me to join the business and it is a distinctive approach that has attracted a high quality client base."
