Wragge & Co and Shoosmiths have announced their new partner promotions, with both regional firms confirming slightly smaller rounds than last year.

News of their promotions came as Field Fisher Waterhouse today (28 March) confirmed a six-strong haul split between London, Munich and Brussels. The appointments mark the third consecutive year where Field Fisher has promoted at least six to partner.

Wragges is making up two directors to partner from 1 May – compared with a trio of new partners last year. The promotions will see Birmingham intellectual property lawyer Kate Swaine and construction specialist Daniel Wood joining the partnership.

The promotions will take Wragges, which operates an all equity partnership, to 121 partners.

Shoosmiths meanwhile is making up six lawyers to partner from May, compared with seven last year.

The haul will see Manchester duo James Wynne (real estate) and Karen Proctor (corporate) elevated to partner alongside Nottingham-based Helen Burgess and Southampton's Stuart Lawrenson (both employment), Paul Kirkpatrick (Milton Keynes – commercial litigation) and Phil Ryan (regulatory – Reading). Following the promotions Shoosmiths, will have a total of 132 partners.

Wragges' senior partner Quentin Poole said: "Kate and Dan are outstanding lawyers. Operating as an extension of their clients' teams, they are trusted advisers on highly complex matters."

Shoosmiths' chief executive Claire Rowe (pictured) said: "I said a year ago that promotions achieved in a tough economic climate must be particularly hard won, and 12 months' on little has changed. It shows that whatever the business environment, people at Shoosmiths roll their sleeves up and get on with it."

The pair join the growing stream of firms confirming annual partner promotions with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer to make up 14 new partners, including six in London, while Addleshaw Goddard is to promote eight lawyers to partner.
