SJ Berwin has bolstered its London real estate team with the hire of Dentons planning partner Stephen Webb.

Webb, who rejoined legacy SNR Denton in 2008 from Eversheds, has left newly merged Dentons – which was formed by the three-way merger of SNR Denton, Salans and Fraser Milner Casgrain at the end of last month – to join SJ Berwin's City office on 1 May.

According to SJ Berwin, Webb (pictured) was one of SNR Denton's three global government sector heads. He previously left Denton Wilde Sapte – a legacy arm of SNR Denton – in 2006 to join Eversheds' planning practice.

His experience includes working with St Modwen Developments on the redevelopment of Queens Market in east London's Upton Park and Fairview New Homes on the redevelopment of Colindale Hospital in Barnet.

He has also previously acted for the London borough of Barking and Dagenham on the regeneration of Barking Reach – comprising 10,000 dwellings – and Dagenham Dock, as well as Bedford Borough Council, Mid-Bedfordshire District Council and Bedfordshire County Council on planning agreements at the new Wixams settlement.

SJ Berwin senior partner Stephen Kon said: "Real estate has always been one of SJ Berwin's flagship practices. Stephen's appointment demonstrates our commitment to this important practice and to our clients who operate in this sector."

SJ Berwin UK head of real estate Simon Ricketts added: "We are really looking forward to working with him on some significant projects and are confident that he will help to strengthen further our leading real estate offering."

Last year SJ Berwin's property team saw the departure of partner Duncan Field, who left SJ Berwin for Wragge & Co's planning and regeneration team.
