A&O makes up 19 to partner around the world including six in London
Allen & Overy (A&O) has made up 19 lawyers in its latest promotions round, including six in the magic circle firm's London office. The City base has seen Charles Yorke made up in tax, while Jeffrey Sullivan, Kevin Young and Sara Pickersgirll have been promoted in the arbitration, banking and corporate practices respectively, alongside international capital markets duo Theo Trayhurn and Tom Grant.

Allen & Overy (A&O) has made up 19 lawyers in its latest promotions round, including six in the magic circle firm's London office.
The City base has seen Charles Yorke made up in tax, while Jeffrey Sullivan, Kevin Young and Sara Pickersgirll have been promoted in the arbitration, banking and corporate practices respectively, alongside international capital markets duo Theo Trayhurn and Tom Grant.
The firm's banking practice has received the bulk of the 19 promotions with seven, followed by corporate with four, international capital markets with three and international arbitration with two. Employment, tax and litigation have each seen the addition of one new partner.
The promotions are spread across a total of 10 offices, with five in Asia, including three in Hong Kong. The firm's Amsterdam, Belgium, Frankfurt, Singapore, Tokyo and Warsaw offices have received one new partner each, with two in Hamburg and Paris.
The new roles will come into effect on 1 May.
This year's round comes after the firm made up 23 new partners in 2012, including nine female promotions. Just two of this year's new partners are women.
Managing partner Wim Dejonghe (pictured) said: "I would like to congratulate each of the new partners on their promotion which is a significant milestone in any lawyer's career. These promotions reflect our commitment to developing the best talent to deliver the high performance our clients expect in all markets."
The news comes after magic circle peers Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Slaughter and May announced their promotions last month. Freshfields is making up six new partners in London as part of a 14-strong haul, while Slaughters made up two City associates to partner, taking the number of partners at the firm to 117.
