Travers Smith has made up three lawyers to its partnership, down on last year's round when eight lawyers were promoted.

The promotions – which are effective as of 1 July due to Travers' financial year running from 1 July to 30 June – include litigator Jan-Jaap Baer, investment funds lawyer Jeremy Elmore and banking and corporate recovery lawyer Danny Peel.

All three will be based in the firm's partnership in London.

The promotions will take the firm's partnership to 67.

Managing partner Andrew Lilley (pictured) said: "The promotion of our new partners is a reflection of their ongoing hard work and commitment to the firm. In a market that continues to challenge, they have the skills and ability to help to continue to drive the firm forward."

Last year seven lawyers were added to the firm's partnership in London, with one associate made up in Travers' sole international base in Paris. Two of last year's promotions were women with corporate lawyer Lucie Cawood made up alongside part-time pensions lawyer Susie Daykin.

Earlier this year the firm appointed corporate head Chris Hale as its new senior partner, who will take up the post on 1 July, as long-serving firm leader Chris Carroll prepares to step down.

Andrew Lilley was re-elected for a second term as managing partner last September, taking up a reduced term of two years rather than three at the start of 2013.
