DLA Piper and Davenport Lyons have played roles on the sale of Ella's Kitchen to US-based food company Hain Celestial Group.

The organic baby food company will join Hain Celestial's Earth's Best brand as part of a new infant, toddler and kids division, which will be headed by Ella's Kitchen founder Paul Lindley.

Hain Celestial – which also owns the Linda McCartney foods brand – was advised by DLA Piper, with partner Bob Bishop leading and senior associates Tim Baumgartner, Kashif Siddiqui and Nick Hinton also taking a role.

Davenport Lyons was instructed by Ella's Kitchen on the deal, with a raft of partners advising. The team included corporate partners Paul Toolan and Max Gower, IP partner David Marchese, employment partner Rebecca Lake and tax consultant Gerald Montagu.

Davenport Lyons also acted for Ella's Kitchen in 2009, when Lindley took on private investment.

Toolan, who led the team advising Ella's Kitchen, said: "Our role with them began in 2008, shortly after Paul had founded Ella's. The company has grown at an impressive rate and been very innovative. Paul has been very conscious of building and promoting the Ella's brand, and so our role has included advice on IP and public relations."
