DAC Beachcroft has overhauled its management team with the addition of four partners to its board, as former Davies Arnold Cooper (DAC) senior partner Danny Gowan prepares to retire from the firm.

The new board members are disputes partner Nick Young in London, insurance partner Pablo Wesolowski in Madrid, Dublin head Katie da Gama and Leeds senior partner Virginia Clegg.

Young has replaced international senior partner Gowan following his decision to retire from the partnership on 1 May. Young will serve the remaining 12 months of Gowan's term, while Gowan remains with the firm as a consultant. Gowan joined DAC in 1983 and became senior partner in 2000, a role he retained up until DAC's merger with Beachcroft in 2011.

Of the other three new additions, Wesolowski joined legacy firm DAC in 1989, becoming managing partner of the Madrid office in 1995 and senior partner in 2006. Da Gama heads up the firm's Dublin office and has overseen its growth to a 40-strong practice since its inception four years ago, while Leeds senior partner and real estate specialist Clegg has also joined the board.

The quartet join the continuing board members of managing partner Paul Murray, senior partner Simon Hodson, Alex Lock (employment), Kenneth McKenzie (disputes), Nigel Montgomery (clinical negligence), Richard Beaty (insurance) and non-executive Tim Trotter. All changes were effective from 1 May.

The shake-up comes after former board member Ignacio Figuerol left the firm as part of a team joining Clyde & Co, while Leeds personal injury partner Ruth Winterbottom has also stepped down from the board and will now focus on the firm's development in Scotland.

Hodson (pictured) said: "These appointments reflect the diversity of our business and the talent within it. They will each bring a wealth of skill and experience to their roles and I am looking forward to the contribution they will undoubtedly make to the strategic direction and long-term health of our business."
