Clifford Chance (CC) has sealed the hire of corporate insurance partner Ashley Prebble from Norton Rose Fulbright's City arm.
Prebble joined legacy Norton Rose in 2003 from Dechert's London office, before making partner at the top 10 firm in 2006. His start date at the magic circle firm is not yet known.
During his time at Norton Rose, Prebble has advised on transactions including the Royal Bank of Scotland's portfolio transfer of Churchill, Direct Line and NIG into one company dubbed UK Insurance; the £135m sale of HSBC Insurance Brokers to Marsh; Admiral Group's £711m initial public offering and Brit Insurance Holdings' $300m (£192m) sale of Brit Insurance to Riverstone Holdings.
CC head of corporate insurance Katherine Coates said: "Ashley joins us at a key time for the insurance industry, which faces unprecedented challenges and uncertainty due to market and regulatory pressures.
"Ashley's particular experience of London market and general insurance operations will be a valuable addition to our current team, which is uniquely placed to support our clients across the sector on a wide range key strategic projects and transactions in both mature and growth markets."
Norton Rose Fulbright global head of financial institutions James Bateson said: "We can confirm Ashley has given notice and will be leaving the practice. We look forward to seeing him on the other side of the table from time to time and wish him well."
Bateson continues to lead the corporate insurance team at Norton Rose Fulbright along with London partners David Whear, Maria Ross and Bob Haken as well as consultant Noleen John.
Earlier this year Norton Rose bulked up its City insurance team with the addition of insurance disputes partner Kirsty Hicks from CMS Cameron McKenna. Her hire followed the firm's recruitment of insurance litigator Liam O'Connell last year, also from CMS' London office.
