Clyde & Co has opened a new office in Atlanta, marking the firm's fourth base in the US and 33rd office worldwide.

The office will be headed up by civil litigation and dispute resolution partner Bob Fisher and risk partner James Chin, both of whom join from Robins Kaplan Miller & Ciresi, a litigation-focused US firm based in Minneapolis.

The Atlanta base will specialise in advising US, European and London market insurers on complex insurance, reinsurance and recovery claims with a particular focus on first party property, third party liability, construction, and catastrophic losses.

Clydes also has US offices in New Jersey, New York and San Francisco.

The news follows a period of recent expansion for the firm, which in April opened a new office in Madrid after securing a four-partner team from rival DAC Beachcroft and last month secured a licence to open in Beijing. In addition, last year the firm opened a new office in Libya.

Senior partner elect James Burns said: "Our aim is to be the most complete provider of services to clients in our core sectors across the whole breadth of their global operations. Bob and James bring with them extensive experience of complex, high-exposure claims for some of the largest US, London market and European insurers.

"In particular, their experience of significant first-party property disputes and third-party liability coverage matters is second to none."

Earlier this month the firm announced a 17% hike in revenues to £337m and a 5% rise profits per equity partner to £580,000 following its first full year of trading since its merger with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert in November 2011.
