K&L Gates has hired White & Case partner and London PPP/PFI practice head Anthony Fine to its energy, infrastructure and resources (EIR) team in London.
Fine, who has more than 30 years of international experience in projects and project finance work, joined the firm on Monday (7 July).
His work spans a wide range of sectors, including social infrastructure, energy, defence, government and transportation, having launched the European PFI team at White & Case when he moved as part of a three-partner team from Kilpatrick Stockton in 2005.
Key roles he has taken have included advising G4S in connection with a £200m, 10-year project with Lincolnshire Police Authority – the first of its kind ever to be awarded in the UK – as well as roles for Barclays Bank and Royal Bank of Scotland in relation to the £370m financing of the Wolverhampton City Council Building Schools for the Future PFI project.
"K&L Gates is a law firm I have admired for some time," said Fine. "With my experience in international projects, I look forward to the opportunity to play an important part in the international growth of the firm's energy, infrastructure and resources practice."
London administrative partner Tony Griffiths welcomed the move, citing Fine's track record in projects and infrastructure and market connections.
"We can confirm that Anthony Fine has left the Firm to join K&L Gates," said a White & Case spokesperson. "We wish him well in his future endeavours."
In May, K&L Gates also turned to White & Case for the hire of Hong Kong corporate partner Virginia Tam, further bolstering the Pittsburgh-headquartered firm's offering in the Asia-Pacific following its tie-up with Australian firm Middletons in January.
