Norton Rose Fulbright has bulked up its City corporate team with the hire of CMS Cameron McKenna private equity partner Richard Bull.

Bull, who made partner at CMS in 2009, acts primarily for private equity clients, sponsors, portfolio companies and management teams, with particular experience in the financial services and technology sectors.

He has taken roles on transactions including advising London buyout firm AnaCap Financial Partners on their acquisitions and investments in the Czech Republic's Equa bank and Malta's Mediterranean Bank, as well as on its investment in UK group Aldermore Bank.

Norton Rose Fulbright global head of financial institutions James Bateson (pictured) said: "Despite the challenging financial market, private equity investors have continued to invest across many asset classes and sectors, particularly financial institutions. Richard is a rising star and he will offer much to our clients in this space."

Norton Rose Fulbright global head of corporate Martin Scott added: "Richard's experience has great synergy with our practice and complements our financial institutions and technology and innovation sector specialisms.

"Richard's arrival will further enhance our global private equity practice, allowing us to meet the needs of our international clients."

The news comes after Norton Rose boosted its City insurance team with the addition of insurance disputes partner Kirsty Hicks from CMS Cameron McKenna earlier this year. Her hire followed the firm's recruitment of insurance litigator Liam O'Connell last year, also from CMS' London base.
