Eversheds has secured a multimillion-pound contract to take over Pentair Flow Control's routine legal work in the EMEA region.

The top 10 UK firm has signed a two-year fixed-fee contract with the valve manufacturer following its spin-off last year from Tyco, with which Eversheds also has an exclusive agreement to provide legal advice.

Although the value of the Pentair contract is undisclosed, it is believed to be worth more than the estimated £13m two-year contract Eversheds recently signed with Tyco.

The Pentair deal sees Eversheds take on the company's legal advice on an exclusive basis across day-to-day work in areas such as litigation, intellectual property and commercial, as well as premium work including major litigation, M&A and antitrust issues.

Eversheds head of global client development Stephen Hopkins (pictured), who has been working with Pentair associate general counsel Marek Tapsik – formerly of Tyco – on the establishment of the deal, commented: "Marek has experienced the benefits that the Eversheds partnership delivered to Tyco and he believes those benefits can also be delivered for Pentair.

"Utilising e-billing systems such as Serengeti, being used by Pentair, enables Eversheds to analyse risk issues, implement efficiencies and move towards a single fixed fee for Pentair's work in the region."

Eversheds has been providing industrial conglomerate Tyco with a range of fixed-fee legal services across EMEA on an exclusive basis since 2006. The original £5m deal, which has since been renewed four times, was most recently re-signed in 2012 with a revised value of around £13m.

Since 2006 the firm has replicated its relationship with Tyco with several similar deals with other major corporates such as telecoms business Orange – now part of Everything Everywhere – Italian energy company Eni and water company Severn Trent.
