Mishcon de Reya has appointed Olswang head of construction Nick Lane to join its property litigation group.

Lane – who will start at the firm on 2 September – will join Mishcon's property litigation group as a contentious construction specialist. His move will bring the group, which sits within the firm's real estate practice, to a total of four partners and 12 fee-earners.

Mishcon's wider real estate department has 19 partners and a total of 78 fee-earners.

Lane said: "Mishcon has bucked a bad market and has a thriving real estate practice. It has set out ambitious expansion plans with an emphasis on litigation in its three year growth strategy. The firm's focus on high quality development work and high net wealth individuals is also attractive for construction, which makes this a really exciting move."

Nick Doffman, head of real estate at Mishcon said: "Contentious work accounts for more than half of the firm's business and has become an area of strength for our real estate department. Our property litigation team has performed beyond expectations during the downturn, and Nick will be instrumental in helping us to grow our existing contentious construction capability."

Mishcons' three-year strategy for 2013-16, includes plans to grow revenues to £100m by 2016.

The firm saw revenues rise by 14% to £83.5m in 2012-13, up by approximately £10m from last year's figure of £73.1m. This means the firm has seen overall growth of almost 200% since 2006-07, when revenues stood at £29m.

The firm's profits per equity partner for 2012-13 have not yet been finalised, but the firm is expecting an increase of more than 14% on last year's figure of £700,000, taking it towards the £800,000 mark.
