Quinn Emanuel is opening its third base in Germany, spearheaded by intellectual property (IP) litigation partner Marcus Grosch.
The US disputes specialist's launch in Munich has been long-touted after the firms set out plans last year to open a string of offices across Europe and Asia.
Grosch, who also headed up the firm's launch in Mannheim in 2010, will lead the offering alongside counsel Jan Ebersohl. The base is set to open at the start of September this year.
Grosch said: "For a long time we have been representing our clients in a multitude of infringement and validity proceedings before the Munich infringement courts as well as the Federal Patent Court and the EPO [European Patent Office]. The opening of an office in this location follows this development.
"I envisage Munich as one of the most relevant European venues for legal advice extending over and above IP. The Munich office offers an ideal platform for the further development of our practice beyond IP and competition law."
News of the office launch comes after the firm opened in Hamburg last year with the hire of a team from Allen & Overy (A&O), with the magic circle firm's local intellectual property (IP) head Nadine Herrmann leading the base alongside a 10-strong team.
The firm's Germany offices are currently staffed by 26 attorneys.
In January the firm opened in Paris as part of its expansion drive. It also outlined plans in May to open in Sydney following the hire of two Herbert Smith Freehills partners, and in Hong Kong after recruiting Kim & Chang senior disputes lawyer John Rhie.
