Shoosmiths is launching a new legal apprenticeship scheme in association with CILEx Law School.

The firm is looking to recruit between two and four students with three good A-levels to work in its recoveries service practice group based at its Northampton office.

The successful candidates will enrol on the two-year debt recovery and insolvency pathway of the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship, with the training delivered and assessed by CILEx Law School.

The apprentices are set to be among the first in the country to be recruited for the Higher Apprenticeship in Legal Services.

Apprentices will be paid £11,000, with Shoosmiths anticipating that successful completion of the training will lead to a full-time job at the firm.

Shoosmiths recoveries manager Lisa Keating said: "This is an exciting opportunity for school leavers to join us as an apprentice working with our banking clients in the Northampton office. We see the legal services apprenticeship as an opportunity to nurture prospective legal advisors in the ethos of our firm alongside the study of law and practice."

CILEx Law School business director Jenny Pelling added: "These apprenticeships are ideal opportunities for local school leavers, getting their A-level results and wondering if they really want to incur the debt of going to university, when they have the chance to start learning and earning straight away."

The news of the Shoosmiths' scheme comes after Addleshaw Goddard announced it is in the process of recruiting ten apprentices for its Manchester transactional services team.
