Nabarro has sealed the hire of Osborne Clarke (OC) partner Richard Brown as its new head of employment, a year after former postholder Jules Quinn left the firm for Jones Day.
Brown, who joined OC's employment practice in 2004 and made partner in 2006, specialises in the technology, marketing services and recruitment industries as well as three of Nabarro's six strategic sectors: financial services, manufacturing and real estate.
He has acted on high-profile instructions including representing Japanese bank Nomura on employment matters relating to its $230m (£148m) acquisition of Lehman Brothers' European and Asian businesses in 2008.
He also defended Nomura on several employment claims in 2006, when former head of debt capital markets Stefano Ghersi and bond trader Luis Marti-Sanchez each claimed breach of contract, with the latter suing for £7.5m, as well as a case which saw bond salesmen Simon Hussey and Piero Burragato bring two separate whistleblowing claims against the bank.
Nabarro senior partner Graham Stedman (pictured) said: "The employment teams in both our London and Sheffield offices already play a vital role in advising clients in our key strategic sectors, deepening relationships with them, as well as winning new clients for the firm. I am sure the practice will go from strength to strength under Richard's leadership."
Partner Tracey Marsden has been overseeing the employment team in the period of time after Quinn departed for Jones Day last September. Quinn had joined Nabarro in 2008 after 13 years at Allen & Overy.
