Eversheds has sealed the hires of two partners from DLA Piper's Birmingham team, including office managing partner and corporate lawyer Mark Beardmore.

Beardmore, who has been office managing partner since 2011, joined DLA Piper in 1999. He specialises in M&A and private equity deals and will join Eversheds' Birmingham arm.

Last year Beardmore was part of the team representing the buyer on the £100m sale of the prestigious Belfry golf resort to US private equity firm KSL Capital Partners.

DLA Piper IT outsourcing partner Simon Jones is also departing for Eversheds. Jones, who headed up DLA Piper's technology practice in Birmingham, will be joining Eversheds' technology, media and telecoms sector group in Leeds. He joined DLA Piper as a partner in 2000 from Nabarro.

Both partners' start dates at Eversheds have not yet been confirmed.

Eversheds company commercial head Keith Froud said: "Their individual expertise will be a welcomed addition to our global team and will continue to strengthen the services that we can offer clients both in the West Midlands, the North of England and beyond."

The news comes after DLA Piper's national head of regulated procurement Steven Norris, who was based at the Birmingham office, left for Squire Sanders earlier this year after 13 years at the firm.
