Dutch boutique Rutgers & Posch has raided Linklaters and Stibbe as the firm continues its first-year hiring spree.

Five lawyers have joined the Amsterdam-based outfit, including former Clifford Chance partner and Linklaters counsel Kees Westermann.

Insolvency and litigation partner Karen Harmsen has also joined from Benelux firm Stibbe.

Harmsen has joined along with one additional fee-earner from her old firm, while Westermann was hired along with two Linklaters associates.

Westermann, joins Rutgers & Posch as a finance partner, helped launch Linklaters' Amsterdam structured finance group when he joined as counsel in 2010. Before that, he was a partner at magic circle peer CC.

He mainly acts for financial institutions, corporates, government bodies, ratings agencies and funds.

Harmsen joined Stibbe's Amsterdam office in 1996, where she was made up as partner in 2004. Her recent mandates include representing the managing partners of the Lehman Brothers Treasury during its insolvency, and telecoms company Nortel's UK administrators on Dutch law matters related to its large-scale restructuring.

Rutgers & Posch managing partner Gerard Endedijk said: '[Harmsen] and [Westermann] are very renowned names in their respective fields. We are […] certain they will both contribute tremendously to our firm.'

A team of partners from Stibbe, DLA Piper and Dutch independent Houthoff Buruma banded together to launch Rutgers & Posch at the start of February.

Managing partner Endedijk was previously head of litigation in Amsterdam for DLA Piper, before leaving to establish the new firm.

The founding team is rounded off by former Stibbe head of investment management Lennaert Posch, DLA Piper employment partner Dirk Jan Rutgers, Houthoff corporate partners Matthijs van den Broek and Bas Visee and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer principal associate Hendrik Jan Schimmel, who joined as a partner.
