Kirkland & Ellis has made up seven of its London associates to partner, in a promotion round that saw 80 associates, counsel and of counsel join the global partnership.
Outside of London, the promotions – which came into effect from 1 October – include appointments in Chicago, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York, Palo Alto, San Francisco and Washington DC.
Kirkland tends to promote lawyers at an earlier stage in their careers, though most promotions do not give partners an equity stake.
More than half of Kirkland's partners are salaried or "non-share", helping the firm achieve a high average profit per equity partner. Last year's PEP stood at more than $3.2m (£2m).
Chicago saw the most promotions, with the firm's largest office contributing 31 new partners, while just 10 of the appointments came from outside the US.
In the City, there were promotions in the firm's private funds, debt finance, corporate and tax practices.
Included in the group is funds lawyer Alexandra Conroy, as well as James Cooks and Mark Fine in the debt finance group, and corporate lawyers Valerie Goldstein, James Howe and Andrej Wolf. Tax associate Dulcie Sawle Daly also made the cut to partner.
Last year's round saw 84 lawyers promoted to non-share partner.
