DAC Beachcroft and Berrymans Lace Mawer have between them acquired Morgan Cole's personal injury business.

The firms are the latest to make a concerted push into the personal injury (PI) and claims markets, after Irwin Mitchell announced today that it has acquired Manchester firm McCool Patterson Hemsi (MPH) Solicitors.

A consultation period is now underway to move five partners and 54 members of staff from Morgan Cole's Bristol office to DAC in Bristol and Newport. The five partners include Deborah Bradley, Mark Bailey, Richard Ottley, Nick Mahoney and Zoe Morgan. The transfer will take place under TUPE arrangements and is expected to be completed in January 2014, taking DAC's total staff number in Bristol to 663 and 152 in Newport.

Meanwhile Morgan Cole's Cardiff-based team, which includes seven members of staff, will be transferred to Berrymans Lace Mawer.

Bill Paton, CEO of DAC Beachcroft Claims Limited, said: "The acquisition of this experienced team will bolster our capability in Bristol and Newport and support our existing work for some key clients."

Last month DAC won a coveted spot on the PI panel for supermarket chain Morrisons.
