Nabarro is set to launch in the Middle East with an office opening in Dubai slated next year.

The firm has been granted a licence to open in the jurisdiction, paving the way for the launch of its third base outside the UK. Nabarro already has offices in Singapore and Brussels.

Partner Terry Fleet, who leads Nabarro's construction and engineering group, will spearhead the launch. The firm expects to staff the base with more partners and associates when the office goes live.

The office will initially focus on construction and engineering, development, dispute resolution and infrastructure.

Nabarro senior partner Graham Stedman said: "Dubai is going to be an important hub for Nabarro in the Middle East.

"Dubai will become a centre from which the rest of the firm can pursue opportunities throughout the region and will also enhance the relationships we already have with Middle Eastern investors in the UK."

Fleet added: "By focusing on construction and engineering, development, dispute resolution and infrastructure we are playing to our strengths. This has been our recipe for success in Singapore and we expect to emulate that in Dubai."

Last year Nabarro was appointed to two Qatari Diar panels. The firm recently advised Abu Dhabi Investment Council and London & Stamford on the acquisition of a 50% interest in the £1.3bn Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
