TLT has boosted its Manchester office with the hire of a 30-strong team – including six partners – from Irwin Mitchell.

The multi-practice group, which also includes solicitors, paralegals and support staff, will move to TLT before the end of the year.

Between them, the six partners advise on commercial litigation, property, employment, corporate banking and finance litigation matters.

They include non-contentious property partner Andrew Bell, employment partner Ed Cotton, Irwin Mitchell's former national recoveries head John Lord, M&A and private equity-focused Jon Close, and commercial litigator Julien Luke.

Tom Seabrook, who headed Irwin Mitchell's banking and finance litigation team in Manchester, also joins.

TLT launched in Manchester six months ago, and has since expanded its office with partner hires from Pinsent Masons, DLA Piper and Hill Dickinson.

The growth of the Manchester base follows a string of office launches in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast in 2012.

"This is a clear marker in the sand about our UK-wide growth intentions," said TLT managing partner David Pester.

"The team is a great fit strategically for the firm. Their industry experience advising energy, financial services, leisure and retail businesses adds immediate expertise for TLT's clients. They have significant experience in the Manchester market, alongside legal skills that will deliver for the firm's clients UK-wide."

Earlier this month, Irwin Mitchell acquired Manchester firm McCool Patterson Hemsi (MPH) Solicitors, as part of a concerted push into the personal injury (PI) and claims markets.
