Kellogg's European legal chief Orla Muldoon has been hired by food processing and commodities trading giant Archer Daniels Midland (ADM).

Muldoon will relocate from Dublin to Geneva when she starts her new role in January, and will take up the role of ADM's general counsel (GC) responsible for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Her move follows ADM's appointment of US-based GC Cameron Finlay in July, who Muldoon described as a key factor behind her decision to join the company.
As EMEA GC – a post which is currently vacant – Muldoon will report to Finlay.

"I'm very excited about the move and the opportunity to work with Cam Findlay," Muldoon commented. "I am sure that the role is going to be challenging and interesting and, together with the EMEA legal team, I look forward to partnering with the business to deliver ADM business goals".

With 2012 global earnings of $89bn (£54bn), Illinois-headquartered ADM earlier this year ranked at number 27 in the Fortune 500.

Ahead of her move, Muldoon was this week admitted to membership of the New York State Bar, after passing the Bar exams in February 2013.

At Kellogg, Muldoon is currently in the process of handing over to Geneva-based in-house counsel Marcus Knopp who will take over the role of Kellogg European legal chief.

As well as managing Kellogg's legal team and compliance arm in Europe and the Middle East, Muldoon was part of Kellogg Europe's principal strategic decision-making body and a director of six Kellogg corporate entities.

Prior to joining Kellogg as chief European counsel in February 2007, she held positions at both Diageo and Coca-Cola. She has also worked in private practice in Ireland at legacy Matheson Ormsby Prentice, and McCann FitzGerald.
