Watson Farley & Williams has hired former Gowlings European infrastructure chief David Shasha as a senior consultant.

Shasha joined the London office at Gowlings as a partner in 2010 from Simmons & Simmons, where he headed the energy and infrastructure sector group for four years. He is joining Watson Farley's corporate team in London.

Shasha led the firm's EMEA energy, infrastructure and mining group during his time at Gowlings.

He joined Simmons as a partner in 2003. Before that he was a corporate and projects partner at Clifford Chance (CC). During his time at CC he managed the firm's Budapest office between 1995 and 1997, and oversaw the firm's office launches in Warsaw and Prague.

He has particular experience with corporate and project transactions in the energy and natural resources sector, including in the power, oil & gas, water, mining and infrastructure space.

His broader corporate experience includes advising clients on privatisations, M&A and international joint ventures as well as public and private offerings.

Outgoing Watson Farley managing partner Michael Greville (pictured) said: "A significant component of our strategy is to expand and develop our leading sectors and practice areas to ensure we offer the broadest possible service to our clients around the world. David's considerable experience is a natural fit[.]"

Watson Farley recently confirmed Chris Lowe and Lothar Wegener as its new joint managing partners after incumbent managing partner Michael Greville revealed he was stepping down from the role after 12 years.
