Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has hired Bredin Prat M&A and corporate partner Olivier Rogivue to join its Paris team.

Rogivue has been a partner at Bredin Prat – Slaughter and May's best friend firm – for the last six years. He trained with Slaughters, spending 11 years working across the firm's London and Paris offices before joining its French ally.

He is an English and French-qualified lawyer with experience of advising large industrial clients in France and in relation to international transactions.

Edward Braham, Freshfields' global head of corporate, said: "As the French market becomes increasingly international, we are seeing an increasing demand for top quality lawyers with valuable international experience. Olivier is an exceptional lawyer who will help us to build on our successful track record on corporate transactions in France."

Rogivue added: "I have worked with the Freshfields Paris team on many transactions over the years and I have appreciated their entrepreneurial ability, dynamism and the quality of their work. These strengths have enabled the practice to develop significantly in France."

Last year, Freshfields and Bredin Prat advised on PSA Peugeot Citroen's proposed €800m (£635m) sale of transport and logistics company GEFCO to Russian Railways. The firms also worked opposite each other on the high-profile tie-up between General Motors (GM) and Peugeot, with Bredin Prat acting for Peugeot, Freshfields for GM and Linklaters advising on competition aspects.
