Invensys chief legal officer Victoria Hull is to stand down from the role in April, following the takeover of the company by France's Schneider Electric.

Hull, a former corporate finance associate at Clifford Chance, joined the former FTSE 100 company in 2000 and became senior vice president and general counsel in July 2001.

Prior to joining the British engineering company, Hull worked as company secretary and executive director of Telewest Communications.

Following the deal with Schneider, which closed on 17 January, Hull's position as a director in Invensys ended. Sources confirmed she would be leaving the company altogether after the end of the current financial year.

Schneider's acquisition of Invensys, one of the largest foreign purchases of a British company in 2013, saw Linklaters take the lead role for the acquirer, and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advise Invensys.

The combined company is now carrying out a review of its in-house legal team, with US-based Schneider's general counsel Peter Wexler heading up the integration.

Schneider employs around 250 lawyers globally, while Invensys has less than 100 on its payroll.

"There are no immediate plans for change in our own organisation following the sale and integration is likely to take the whole of this year," commented one source close to the process.

One private practice lawyer who has worked with Invensys said he would be surprised if there were many short-term cuts to Invensys' in-house team.

"It's a pretty global business, and Schneider isn't going to want to lose that legal know-how and capability overnight," he said.
