DWF has continued the growth of its City corporate team with the hire of the head of TLT's commercial services group in London Richard Tall.

Tall, who joins with a team of two solicitors this month, is a corporate lawyer with a particular focus on the financial services sector. He acts for bidders, targets and financial advisers, and has experience of securities offers from unlisted bond issues.

Solicitors Joe Cobley and Caroline Urban, who were part of Tall's deal team at TLT, also make the move to DWF. This year, the trio acted on TUI Travel's acquisition of online destination provider Isango, and Sword Group's £12m takeover of AIM company Active Risk Group.

The firm says deal volumes have seen a 140% year-on-year deal volume increase, with particular growth in the financial services, real estate and TMT sectors.

DWF has undergone enormous growth nationally in the last two years, with a number of acquisitions and mergers propelling the firm into in the top 20 UK law firms by revenue.

Last year, managing partner Andrew Leaitherland told Legal Week the firm was considering further merger options in the City in the wake of its takeover of London professional indemnity firm Fishburns.

In October, 17 lawyers joined the firm's London base as part of the transfer of a 50-strong team from insurance disputes specialist Greenwoods.

In December, DWF also made up two new partners in London as part of a 10-strong round across its UK offices, appointing regulatory lawyer Dominic Watkins and insurance specialist Amanda Emberton to associate partner and director respectively.
