Ince & Co is set to cut up to 16 jobs after launching a redundancy consultation with its legal and support staff.

The redundancies will affect up to 10 fee earners from the firm's insurance and shipping practices as well as six business services roles, which are a mix of secretarial and support staff.

All of the roles are based at the firm's London office. The consultation began yesterday (12 February) and is expected to conclude in around three weeks' time.

A spokeswoman for Ince said: "Following an assessment of the prevailing economic conditions in our core sectors and a review of our resourcing requirements, we are in consultation over the potential redundancy of 10 fee earner and six business services roles. Where possible, we will be seeking volunteers for some of these roles.

"We are sorry to see colleagues leaving and we will be working closely with our clients and other contacts who may be looking for high quality recruits. All our leavers will be offered outplacement support and significantly enhanced departure packages and we wish them well."

The firm declined to comment on further details of the redundancy packages on offer.

The news comes after Stephenson Harwood last week confirmed it is launching a redundancy round for support staff in its London office, following a review of its secretarial and document production functions.

In the past year publically-announced redundancy rounds have seen Berwin Leighton Paisner cut 58 legal staff and 44 secretarial staff between May and July. Also in July, Taylor Wessing axed 22 City secretarial roles after placing 96 roles under consultation.
