DWF and Hill Dickinson have bagged the advisory roles on Everton Football Club's new kit deal with Umbro.
The partnership, which kicks off in June, ahead of the 2014-15 Premier League season, will see the Merseyside club don the iconic British brand for the next five years.
DWF advised Umbro, with national head of commercial and IP Craig Chaplin leading on the deal alongside senior solicitor Catherine Harrison. Umbro is a new client for the firm, instructing it for the first time last year.
Everton, meanwhile, turned to longstanding adviser Hill Dickinson, with the national firm fielding a team led by the club's client partner Sue Russell and featuring associate Megan Bentham. Russell has acted for Everton on matters including its retail outsourcing agreement with Kitbag and previous shirt sponsorship deals.
Besides being its main kit supplier, Umbro will produce all on-pitch and training products for the men's, women's and academy teams at Everton and will also sponsor the club's grassroots programmes.
Chaplin said of working with Umbro: "It has been great to work with an iconic client on such an important deal."
In 2012, Umbro's former owner Nike sold the English brand to US clothing rival Iconix Brand Group in a £140m deal. Skadden Arpls Slate Meagher & Flom advised Nike on the sale, while Iconix turned to fellow US firms White & Case and Blank Rome.
