Sidley Austin, Latham & Watkins and Vinson & Elkins have become the latest international firms to announce increases in year-on-year revenues.

Latham saw revenue climb 2.7% to $2.29bn (£1.38bn), while profits per partner edged up 1.9% to $2.49m (£1.49m). Revenue per lawyer was also slightly up, standing at $1.11m (£664,000).

The firm posted revenue increases of 3.4% in 2012, on the back of an impressive 11.6% turnover rise the year before.

"We are proud of our ability to sustain growth year over year," commented chair and managing partner Bob Dell, currently in his last year of leading the firm.

"There are bright spots in the global economy, and we are excited by the opportunities to continue to invest in our global platform and grow our market share."

In Europe, the firm has seen significant expansion in the last year, with yesterday's announcement of the hire of Clifford Chance corporate partner Kem Ihenacho bringing its tally of City laterals to six in the last twelve months.

Latham also took on four partners from Shearman & Sterling's German offices, giving the firm a new base in Duesseldorf.

Meanwhile, Sidley Austin achieved a sizeable revenue hike of 7.5% in 2013, with global revenues hitting $1.6bn (£957m) for the year.

Both profits and revenue per lawyer increased by 4% to $1.8m (£1.08m) and $910,000 (£544,000) respectively.

Houston-headquartered firm Vinson & Elkins returned to growth in 2013, posting an increase of 6.5% to $630.5m (£377m), following a 3% drop between 2011 and 2012.

Separately, Wilmer Hale confirmed global revenue for 2013 was flat on the previous year, at $1.07bn (£642m).
