Allen & Overy (A&O) has made up 16 new partners across its global network as part of its annual promotions round, with five partner additions in the UK.
The figures is 16% down on last year, when the firm promoted 19 new patrners, including six in the City. In 2012, A&O promoted 23 lawyers worldwide.
The firm's London office had the largest intake of partners. The quintet includes international capital markets (ICM) lawyers Guy Antrobus and Luke Lewis, litigation duo Alice Englehart and Mahmood Lone and banking lawyer Troy Edwards.
Meanwhile, the Dubai and Hong Kong outposts each made up three partners, while in Australia one partner each was promoted in Perth and Sydney. The Frankfurt, Amsterdam and New York bases each saw one promotion.
Broken down by practice, the international capital markets group gained the lion's share of new partners with six, followed by litigation and banking with four each. There were two partner additions in the corporate partnership.
A&O managing partner Wim Dejonghe (pictured) said: "It gives me great pleasure to welcome these talented individuals to the partnership. This is a major achievement in any lawyer's career, but their deep understanding of their clients and markets, their expertise and enthusiasm make them excellent candidates."
The appointments come into effect on 1 May.
