Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has made up five partners in the City as part of a 15-strong promotion round worldwide.
Competition lawyer Martin McElwee, M&A lawyer Richard Thexton, disputes lawyers Giles Pratt and Piers Reynolds and finance lawyer Jonathan Birks will join the partnership in London from 1 May.
Elsewhere, Germany has gained five new partners, with Amsterdam securing two new partners. New York, Brussels and Tokyo have gained one apiece.
By practice area disputes has gained the largest share, with five promotions, followed by four in finance and three in corporate. Three of the new partners are female.
The promotions are broadly in line with last year's tally when 14 lawyers were made up, including six in London.
Freshfields Senior partner Will Lawes said: "We are delighted that these outstanding young partners are joining the firm. They are all highly talented lawyers with a strong track record of client success. As a group, they will add significantly to the depth of our market-leading client offering around our firm."
News of the promotions makes Freshfields the second magic circle firm to confirm details of its 2014 new partners after Allen & Overy last month unveiled a reduced intake of 16 new partners, down from 19 last year.
