Latham & Watkins has further boosted its partnership ranks with the promotion of six counsel across the US, Europe and Asia.
The promotions, effective March 1, are part of the US firm's annual promotions round, which in January saw 20 associates made up to partner and 24 lawyers elected as counsel.
In Asia, the firm has selected Posit Laohaphan in Hong Kong and Andrew Roche in Singapore, who respectively specialise in capital markets and project finance work.
Laohaphan advises on debt, equity and equity-linked securities transactions such as convertible and exchangeable securities; in addition to debt restructurings, margin loans, equity derivatives products, and also structured finance, banking and M&A.
Roche, whose practice includes project finance, acquisition finance, structured and general financing transactions, meanwhile specializes in advising financiers, sponsors, developers, project companies and host governments on oil and gas, petrochemicals, water and utilities, mining and infrastructure projects. His experience includes advising on transactions in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and South America.
The other promotions include Christoph Engeler, a corporate lawyer in the firm's Hamburg office, David Zaheer, a public company specialist Los Angeles, in addition to capital markets lawyer Erika Weinberg and IP litigator Clement Naples – both in New York.
None of the promotions were in London, however, in January the firm made up four London lawyers, including corporate department members James Burnett, Richard Butterwick and Jennifer Engelhardt and tax group associate Karl Mah.
The City office also elected litigation associate Daniel Smith and finance associate John-Patrick Sweny to counsel.
