Hogan Lovells has appointed corporate lawyer Stephanie Keen as its new Singapore managing partner, taking over from James Harris who has managed the base for over a decade.

Keen, who moved to Singapore five years ago, currently heads the Singapore corporate and private equity practice and is one of only a few international lawyers qualified to practice Singapore law.

She will assume the role of office head from July 1, which will also involve overseeing the firm's South East Asia practice.

Meanwhile Harris will remain a partner in the Singapore office, tasked with heading up the Asia infrastructure, energy, resources and projects (IERP) practice as well as a newly-created role of global head of infrastructure.

In an earlier interview with Legal Week, Hogan Lovells said it was looking to grow its Asia revenue by 10% in the next year, with a focus on the Singapore office.

Patrick Sherrington, Asia managing partner, said the office would be "pivotal" to the firm's regional expansion plan, and that South East Asia is where he anticipates the most growth in the short term.

This year the firm has already made two lateral hires in the island city-state with the addition of Herbert Smith Freehills' South East Asian disputes head, Maurice Burke, and Allen & Overy debt capital markets lawyer Andy Ferris.

The Singapore office has also been involved in a number of significant projects in the last 12 months, advising on JTC Corporation's $890m Jurong Rock Caverns development, South East Asia's first subterranean hydrocarbon storage facility, and acting for Trafigura Pte on its equity investment in Nagarjuna Oil Corporation, an Indian refinery project.
