Wragge & Co has made five partner promotions ahead of its merger with City firm Lawrence Graham next month.

The promotion round is more than double the size of last year's, when just two partners were made up.

The new partners are: Ed Colreavy and Jacqueline Knox (housing, development & regeneration); Ian Gordon (pensions disputes); Jasvir Jootla (restructuring and corporate recovery); and Gus wood (energy).

Colreavy trained at Wragges and qualified in 2000. He works with a number of the UK's biggest house-builders advising on land acquisitions and disposals, while Knox focuses on the social housing sector.

Gordon joined Wragges as a director in 2011 from RPC and has expertise in handling negligence claims brought against pensions professionals.

Jootla became a director at Wragges in 2011 and specialises in all aspects of non-contentious corporate recovery and restructuring work. Wood has experience working on commercial contracts, regulatory and infrastructure projects – since he qualified into the energy and regulated industries team in 2002.

Wragges senior partner Quentin Poole said: "We have looked at talent, experience, client requirements and growth opportunities, and have decided to promote these five exceptional individuals to the partnership. Each of them has demonstrated outstanding commitment to their clients, to maintaining the very highest professional standards and to supporting their colleagues. I am very pleased to welcome them as fellow partners."

Wragges will merge with Lawrence Graham on 1 May to become Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co. The £171 million business will have 1,300 people operating from 10 offices worldwide.

Wragge & Co managing partner elect David Fennell will become the new firm's chief executive, with Quentin Poole as senior partner and Lawrence Graham senior partner Andrew Witts as chairman.
