Norton Rose Fulbright has made up 46 lawyers in the firm's first partner promotions round since its US merger in June 2013.

In an increased promotions round for the firm, almost half of the new partners are female. Out of the 46 new partners, 20 are women (43%).

Only 33 partners were made up last year, ahead of the tie-up between Norton Rose and US firm Fulbright & Jaworski.

This year, Europe and Canada have received the bulk of the promotions, with 12 and 11 respectively, while the round also includes eight director promotions in South Africa – the local equivalent to partner. Ten lawyers have been made up in London, while seven partners are spread across the firm's US offices.

This year's promotions are being made across all eight of the firm's global practice groups, with corporate and M&A securing the majority of new partners with 17 additions. Dispute resolution and litigation will welcome ten new partners, while nine will join the banking and finance group. The remainder will be spread across intellectual property (four), two each in antitrust and competition (two), employment (two), real estate (one) and tax (one).

Peter Martyr (pictured), global chief executive at Norton Rose said: "We continue to grow globally and I am pleased to welcome the new partners and directors who will play a key role in meeting the needs of our clients around the world. These are our first promotions in the United States following our US combination last year. We have also made a number of promotions in Latin America, which is consistent with the announcement of our Rio de Janeiro office in 2014."
