Ex-Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) finance chief Matthew Kellett is joining accounting giant EY, where he will lead the legal arm of its financial services division.

Kellett will start his new role as a partner at the big four firm in September.

He left BLP in October, having first joined the firm in 2010. Prior to that, he was managing director and head of financial structuring at the Royal Bank of Scotland. He was also a partner at Linklaters for thirteen years, from 1990-2003.

Kellett's departure from BLP prompted the firm's management to carry out a review of its finance department led by former Clifford Chance managing partner Tony Williams, of legal consultants Jomati.

Following the review, in March, Adam Dann head of projects and infrastructure, was appointed as the firm's new finance head, replacing Kellett.

Since Kellett's exit several other partners have left the firm including head of restructuring & insolvency Ben Larkin who quit BLP in February for Jones Day. Larkin had initially been cited as a potential candidate for the finance practice head.

At the end of last year, corporate finance partner Michael Weir and finance partner Richard Todd joined Jones Day and Mayer Brown respectively.
