Dentons has made up six of its lawyers to partner in the UK, Middle East and Africa (UKMEA) region, bringing its total number of partner promotions globally to 34.

The promotions include five lawyers in the UK and one in Doha, and span the firm's corporate, commercial, restructuring and disputes practices.

Although the appointments came into effect at the beginning of this month, they were only announced by the firm yesterday (8 May).

In London, procurement lawyer Mark Bassett, restructuring specialist Celia Hayward, litigator Thomas Leyland and the private equity-focused Eleanor Shanks were all made up.

Milton Keynes-based Peter Cox, and Zaher Nammour in the firm's Doha office were the two non-London appointments to partner. Both Cox and Zaher are in the corporate and commercial team.

"I congratulate all our new partners on what is a significant step in their professional careers," said UKMEA CEO Matthew Jones.

"During a time when we continue to see the firm expand, the promotion of these exceptional individuals will ensure we continue to offer a top tier service."

Dentons now has 157 partners in the UKMEA region. Elsewhere in the global promotions round, 12 lawyers were made up in each of the Canada and US regions, while four lawyers made the grade in Europe.

Last year the Dentons made up an all-female quartet to partner, including two promotions in the UK and two in the Middle East.
