Nabarro has launched its first Manchester office with a trio of real estate partner hires from Addleshaw Goddard, including practice head Mark Haywood.
The trio is rounded off by partners Nathan Jansen and Monica Brij.
Haywood joined Addleshaws as a partner in 1999 from Olswang, having begun his career at Nabarro. He recently acted on the £800m joint venture between the Co-op and long-standing Nabarro client Hermes Real Estate.
Brij spent four years at Linklaters before joining Addleshaws in 2007, making partner in 2013. She is well known in the Manchester commercial property market for her work on city centre sales, leasebacks and acquisitions. Jansen was made partner in 2007 and has experience in advising major funds on property investment and management assets.
Ciaran Carvalho (pictured), head of Real Estate at Nabarro, said: "Mark, Nathan and Monica are fantastic additions to our real estate team. Today's announcement is a sign of intent.
"Nabarro is rightly proud of its market leading real estate practice and we are confident in investing to continue to support national and international clients in the sector. An office handling the most complex real estate structures, funds and deals in Manchester will strengthen the reputation established by our London team and complement the high quality investment, leasing and asset management work we deliver to clients from our Sheffield office."
In a statement Addleshaws said: "Looking forward, real estate is and will remain a key pillar of our firm. We have a great depth of talent in that practice, great clients and are engaged in exceptional work. We will continue to build on this strong platform."
The firm added that Haywood's successor will be appointed by its future managing partner.
Addleshaws brought forward its election process in March after current managing partner – Paul Devitt – announced his intention to stand down a year early.
Devitt's decision to stand down came after the firm confirmed a review of partner pay following an error in the calculation of points available to partners. Devitt's successor is expected to participate in the launch of the firm's next five-year strategy in May 2014.
Until a new appointment has been made, Michael Reevey, who was real estate managing partner at Addleshaws between 2002-2009, will act as interim practice head.
