Linklaters, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Osborne Clarke have landed roles on the £3.6bn merger of Dixons and Carphone Warehouse.

Linklaters is advising Dixons on the much-hyped deal, fielding a team led by London corporate partner Aedamar Comiskey.

Osborne Clarke is acting for Carphone Warehouse, working alongside the company's in-house legal team led by general counsel Tim Morris. The OC team is being fronted by corporate finance partner Jonathan King with antitrust advice coming from Simon Neill.

Freshfields is advising Carphone Warehouse on financing aspects of the deal, led by partner Sean Lacey.

Linklaters secured its role advising Dixons back in February when the company – which owns Currys and PC World – confirmed it was in preliminary talks with the mobile phone retailer over a tie-up.

The combined group will be called Dixons Carphone, with Carphone Warehouse's Sir Charles Dunstone and Roger Taylor remaining as chairman and deputy chairman respectively.

Dixons also today gave a trading update for the 2013-14 financial year. Profit at the retail chain is expected to be between £150-160m before tax, while sales are up 3%.

Sebastian James, Dixons chief executive said: "We are setting out on a new journey with Carphone Warehouse and it is good to be in such a strong position as we embark on this adventure.

"The ability to take what we have built in electrical retailing and add the profound expertise of Carphone Warehouse in connectivity would make us a leading force in retailing for a connected world. Together, we can create a seamless experience for our customers that will enable technology to deliver what it promises – that is, to make their lives better."
