Eversheds has named corporate M&A and energy sector specialist Dani Kabbani as managing partner of the firm's Doha office.

Kabbani (pictured), who has 17 years' experience practicing law in Qatar, joined Eversheds as a partner in 2012 from Simmons & Simmons. He has worked with government bodies including sovereign wealth funds and financial institutions on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters including joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and initial public offerings (IPOs).

Kabbani will join construction and engineering partner Richard Ward, who relocated from London to Doha in April to lead the construction team in the region.

Eversheds was the first international law firm to be awarded an operating licence by the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), opening its Doha office in 2006.

Eversheds now has seven offices in the Middle East region – most recently opening a second office in Iraq – which have seen a combined growth of over 25% this year. The firm has created a number of new management roles in the Middle East as part of chief executive Bryan Hughes' '2020 Vision' strategy.

Nasser Ali Khasawneh, Middle East managing partner said: "Dani is a well known and respected figure in the legal community in Qatar and is highly valued by clients. He is an excellent addition to our management team in the region."
