Gibson Dunn & Crutcher was handed the Achievement Award for setting up and running a non-denominational advice clinic in the Holy Trinity Church compound in Oud Metha, Dubai.

The clinic was the first of its kind to open in the region and has received a considerable amount of publicity. Its mission is to guide members of Dubai's large immigrant population through what can be a difficult and confusing legal system – especially for people who are not fluent in Arabic or English. Volunteers advise on an array of legal issues including immigration, debt, domestic violence and rent disputes. Onsite medical care and basic health advice is also provided.

While all lawyers and staff at Gibson Dunn's Dubai office have provided assistance, the firm has also successfully enlisted the support of lawyers at several other firms, including a number of local Emirati lawyers.
